Turning on the DMB


You can watch TV, listen to the radio, or access traffic information (KBS TPEG) via digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB).
On the All Menus screen, press DMB.
Note
If you turn on the DMB for the first time, a channel search notification appears. Read the messages and press Yes. A channel search will start.

DMB screen

The DMB screen provides various functions you can use while watching DMB broadcasts.
  1. Return to the previous level.
  1. Display the options list.
  1. Display Off: Turn off the screen. Press the screen to turn it back on.
  2. Edit Channel List: Edit the channels list. > See "Editing the channel list."
  3. Sound Settings: Access the system sound settings screen.
  4. Display Settings: Access the system screen settings screen.
  5. DMB Certification Info: View DMB certification information (CAS ID). (if equipped)
  6. User's Manual on Web (QR Code): View the QR code for access to the web manual.
  1. Channel name
  1. Current broadcast video. Press to watch the video in full screen. In a DMB radio channel, its slideshow image or channel information will be displayed depending on the station selected.
  1. Channel list
  1. Search for channels.
  1. Access the list of emergency information. This is enabled only when emergency broadcasting is available.
Warning
  • Watching DMB may distract your attention from driving, resulting in a traffic accident. For your safety, watching DMB is restricted while you are driving.
  • Do not disassemble or modify the system to watch DMB. If you disassemble or modify the system arbitrarily, it will not be covered by your warranty.
Note
  • DMB image quality may be lowered or DMB signals may not be received in the following situations:
  • In a building
  • In a valley or mountainous area
  • Near a tram line, high voltage line, or neon sign
  • Near a transmission antenna or tower or of a radio station
  • When an electronic device, such as a mobile phone, is used in the vehicle
  • In an area far from broadcasting stations
  • Depending on broadcasting schedules, broadcasting station conditions, or radio transmission environments, DMB receptions may be poor.
  • Available channels or programs may change according to changes in transmission format.
  • For radio broadcasts, the screen may not be displayed while a channel is being received.
  • Depending on the signal reception status, searching for channels may take longer.
  • Depending on the broadcasting status, signal reception for some channels may be poor even if the channels were tuned correctly.
  • Depending on the amplifier specifications, the sound effect setting button may appear on the screen. > See "Using sound effects (if equipped)."

Selecting DMB channels

Searching for channels

If there is no previously selected channel or when you move to another area, you can search for channels available in the area.
On the DMB screen, press Search > Yes.
  • When the search is complete, the broadcast of the first channel on the updated list appears on the screen.
Note
  • If you press Cancel or press the [] or [] button on the control panel before the search is complete, the search will be canceled and the screen will return to the previously-tuned channel.
  • If your system has the [TUNE/FILE] knob and you control the knob before the search is complete, the search will be canceled and the screen will return to the previously-tuned channel.

Changing the channel

On the control panel, press the [] or [] button.
  • You can watch changed DMB broadcast.
Note
  • You can also change the channel by using the Search lever/button on the steering wheel.
  • If your system has the [TUNE/FILE] knob on the control panel, you can also change the channel by turning the knob.

Editing the channel list

Selecting broadcast channels

You can select channels to display on the channel list.
  1. At the top right of the DMB screen, press > Edit Channel List.
  1. From the searched channel list, select the check boxes next to the channels you want.
  1. Only the channels with a check mark will be added to the channel list.

Reordering the channel list

  1. At the top right of the DMB screen, press > Edit Channel List.
  1. On the channel list, press and hold next to the channel to move and drag it to a desired location.
  1. The channels are reordered as you move.
